I spent the past two days organizing my desk, and sorting out more mailings I need to get out, so I've been productive. Not saying I Marie Kondo'd my room (is she even still a thing?), but everything is slowly moving from stacks to boxes/binders. </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjojYdtHBrODb3QDPRsrIZK9Xk7_cx6Hb8ljQJnnyq8xBpwzoFhyphenhyphentKWnwatAOYbPAGKLa4N6aXGmixhlkNhPlI6SnZejwaVTukluzofhtEEd16AeGUdfjnEt0aeNLso1G1U0ZCCJdNNFP0/s1100/jeffersons_primary.webp" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="618" data-original-width="1100" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjojYdtHBrODb3QDPRsrIZK9Xk7_cx6Hb8ljQJnnyq8xBpwzoFhyphenhyphentKWnwatAOYbPAGKLa4N6aXGmixhlkNhPlI6SnZejwaVTukluzofhtEEd16AeGUdfjnEt0aeNLso1G1U0ZCCJdNNFP0/w400-h225/jeffersons_primary.webp" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Just don't come to my part of town.<br /></td></tr></tbody></table><p></p><p>While I haven't been posting, I haven't stopped trying to find decent deals on ebay. Recent life situations had me disappear for a bit, and I'll get to those later. However, it's important I get back to the blog for many reasons, including the large number of people emailing and texting saying "Jeff, we miss your elegant prose and your strong words of wisdom - please come back".<br />

</p><p>So a quick rundown: lost my job, found a new job, pandemic crap (no one here got sick)finances, and other things.</p><p>Wow - that wasn't really much of an impressive rundown. There will be more later. But enough of my witty prose - on to the cardboard!</p><p></p><p>Being out of work for a couple month, you would have thought my desk is so clean I can perform surgery between my mouse and keyboard. Yeah, that's not true, but I have done some sorting, scanning and organizing with past mailers that should have been sorted, scanned and organized far earlier than they were. First up is Brian from NY, who I don't think has a blog. Correct me if I am wrong. According to the postmark, I received this PWE in March of 2019 (insert Picard face palm here). </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoU6P-LTjY8EXA9QOiVvgjpMmAWQZJYtCRH1hTFWP3e3ywzQk-6AbWPwVRN2YABRR7xPexzaByyLRNxAKy5yQtNJ7Sej3DhxfhzKWK4chV-2U7_0tyEjHvgsTzr16MAOqetkkDMMzdtzg/s1426/1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1222" data-original-width="1426" height="546" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoU6P-LTjY8EXA9QOiVvgjpMmAWQZJYtCRH1hTFWP3e3ywzQk-6AbWPwVRN2YABRR7xPexzaByyLRNxAKy5yQtNJ7Sej3DhxfhzKWK4chV-2U7_0tyEjHvgsTzr16MAOqetkkDMMzdtzg/w640-h546/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>A fine smattering of Buehrles were found. Mark has an auto in this year's Archives, to which I say "About fricking time". Not sure if it was a Mark thing or a Topps thing, but certified autographs from Mark are VERY few and far between. I will pick one up someday.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGbkW1N39_SIghnFgJ8n3jtme5h3nF6z-JsqROK3hdzyxYEUS5jnSj_7sNPHdGMoWNFst3eopYhT4Yxx7PHHGkM5gfbq75ZvrdkV_tJypjQO6ntt17IKi4hqEXTheOQgAXTqG8YPp_8EU/s1226/2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1226" data-original-width="1018" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGbkW1N39_SIghnFgJ8n3jtme5h3nF6z-JsqROK3hdzyxYEUS5jnSj_7sNPHdGMoWNFst3eopYhT4Yxx7PHHGkM5gfbq75ZvrdkV_tJypjQO6ntt17IKi4hqEXTheOQgAXTqG8YPp_8EU/w532-h640/2.jpg" width="532" /></a></div><p>Yeah - you can tell this is a 2019 mailer as there is a Luis Robert sighting. I Twitter ranted about all the high end releases and costs of cards recently, with Roberts being one of those guys that price me out of the hobby. I am not sure how many Robert cards I have in my Sox box, but if it's 5 I would be shocked. Anyway, thanks for the cards, Brian.</p><p>Next up is another Brian, this one running the awesome <a href="https://subjectiveandarbitrary.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">HSCA</a>. I misplaced the mailer, but I am sure this is another 2019 package. Let's go to the images.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBSatcUPo5qd34p8Ks8DTkatgkuvn55XjF32CCAQ4cvUjiEfBe44mtOCIN56QgCJjSdku_LNsCZCtSzuOxy_1Pq3Gdqee0vg4ODjIaaTcKmLacJVYM70b-xjRbrRt7NSMu7sPmdHCXk8E/s1533/1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1240" data-original-width="1533" height="518" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBSatcUPo5qd34p8Ks8DTkatgkuvn55XjF32CCAQ4cvUjiEfBe44mtOCIN56QgCJjSdku_LNsCZCtSzuOxy_1Pq3Gdqee0vg4ODjIaaTcKmLacJVYM70b-xjRbrRt7NSMu7sPmdHCXk8E/w640-h518/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p></p><p>Look at the colors! While they are pretty to look at, let's be honest - colored parallels are dumb. No matter how amazing that Anderson card looks with black borders (or say any Dodger card looks with blue borders), they are gimmicky and have no place in the hobby. Teams sets are more than complete without color variation, pattern variation, etc.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv2X6A4XH91PG2xZYbCUQfFUCY46aaO6lgxNhan6hz6dXRv0Jqhl887cIS3FX-tk4lychqSDvMPLTOxAHkND-LOHldrSmNiMy-GVjV2Q0BEyaAtUL05qDzM5Z29lip2M7kbizZGWICFog/s1556/2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1431" data-original-width="1556" height="588" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv2X6A4XH91PG2xZYbCUQfFUCY46aaO6lgxNhan6hz6dXRv0Jqhl887cIS3FX-tk4lychqSDvMPLTOxAHkND-LOHldrSmNiMy-GVjV2Q0BEyaAtUL05qDzM5Z29lip2M7kbizZGWICFog/w640-h588/2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p>Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust a bit outside. He's my son in-law, and besides collecting my daughter's heart, he also created this:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk1rEYwqVZJuwri50p_gJjCiLt9JEdv4x5aW0TzbEwQCzCNwcrl_cZD2oIv6R-ejGRMnweWCng8y4f23SzLqWL5h8HVZrtaNm3utRpfSI5SXqLcb1bxSt_ZrZ51QbgMW_9Q0PIxIPJBN0/s936/FINAL+Scout+1st+Bowman.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="936" data-original-width="702" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk1rEYwqVZJuwri50p_gJjCiLt9JEdv4x5aW0TzbEwQCzCNwcrl_cZD2oIv6R-ejGRMnweWCng8y4f23SzLqWL5h8HVZrtaNm3utRpfSI5SXqLcb1bxSt_ZrZ51QbgMW_9Q0PIxIPJBN0/w480-h640/FINAL+Scout+1st+Bowman.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><p></p><p>That is my semi decent shot at her first Bowman card because yes - she is a Bowman. Scout Piper Bowman. She has a "3B" designation as she is the third grand daughter for the Bowman side of the family. She's the first on the Wilk side. I'm going to make no guarantees, because life is life and who knows what tomorrow will be. I do know I have been making dents in organization and mailing are starting to go out. </p><p>Yes - watch your mailbox. Hopefully, he will be wearing it well, with proper pants blousing. The picture may be from the front of the card, or the back. Enjoy the uniforms from years past.<br />

I started a stop watch and am scanning a single card (recent pickup) and while scanning, I'm typing this. Oh crap, I need to find some witty gif to insert here.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY97Q7ikHyNnlZD163tOBbank9rYbEnX9JNmtHH0WVXnnsyOzmfM9oPFFzXAI1nZ8iJZaDTpgSwylHhLT_n9dX3dZT3JRkynKpLwU46fd_2uUOkinFYJgMj4eWCVtvdqdQdpFt-mQndUc/s1600/witty.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="272" data-original-width="478" height="182" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY97Q7ikHyNnlZD163tOBbank9rYbEnX9JNmtHH0WVXnnsyOzmfM9oPFFzXAI1nZ8iJZaDTpgSwylHhLT_n9dX3dZT3JRkynKpLwU46fd_2uUOkinFYJgMj4eWCVtvdqdQdpFt-mQndUc/s320/witty.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">And here's my witty comment. (cue laughter)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So like I mentioned, I haven't posted for a few days. Just busy with life. But I don't want to get into a run of not posting, so let me get this up. 4m 31s so far. This is a card I snagged from Ebay for $3.50 with free shipping. Which means, unless he bought MAJOR bulk of this card (only 290 were printed) the seller lost money on this one. And his loss is my gain.<br />

<br />
This is the 2nd of Engel's home run steal Topps Now cards I own. One to go. And one song to go. And I think I will be fortunate to get this posted before 7 (shameless segue). Stop clock!!!! 8 minutes 24.31 seconds.<br />

Which ended up as a bonus for me as Bo had been holding a stack of miscuts to send back. And what a stack it is. So warm up your vocal cords and free free to jump to the bottom to have some music to sing along with.<br />

Currently have six folders of scans. I added one from a very recent mailing because I wanted to get the cards received stored into the set build they were received. So let's put up 3 today. Once again, I am not sure when I received these fantastic cards (sorry senders), and this is a long time coming. I hope you give me a small amount of forgiveness.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">And give me a lot of these.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Let's start with the folder containing a single image, but oh what an image it is. Adam from <a href="http://cardboardclubhouse.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Cardboard Clubhouse</a>. Adam is currently on break from blogging cuz he had to have another baby.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
But seriously, according to his most recent post, that little guy/gal should have arrived, so I hope she/he is healthy and the family is doing well. Speaking of little guys.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifZDBwWoc88p2XSp71pjcW19erLSNMEiqRk9AeQ8_7xm05TtdJ08dzIcVG1LKa_NjyGu2TifYzHgCug6VDAWdq96U6jlb3ZBbLfreRNqhXdqHH_997bk-utfUI93O6xBfBl9jWPesQZiA/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="889" data-original-width="1211" height="468" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifZDBwWoc88p2XSp71pjcW19erLSNMEiqRk9AeQ8_7xm05TtdJ08dzIcVG1LKa_NjyGu2TifYzHgCug6VDAWdq96U6jlb3ZBbLfreRNqhXdqHH_997bk-utfUI93O6xBfBl9jWPesQZiA/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Little in size, the droids are. But the cards themselves are not. Adam dropped 3 or 4 of these 5x7 packs from TLJ on me. And I believe I completed the set of the 8 cards. A Google search puts these as a fan event release from Topps, doubles sided with Light on one side and Dark on the other. <a href="https://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-The-Last-Jedi-Topps-Trading-Cards-Set-Fan-Event-Disney-Rewards-5x7-/282787457006" target="_blank">This ebay auction</a> gives you a good look at all 16 images. I have dupes, so if you want them, hit me up. And thanks Adam. Hope you are back on your blog soon.<br />
<br />
Next up is a couple scans from Jon at <a href="http://pennysleevethoughts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">A Penny Sleeve For Your Thoughts</a>. I love Jon's posts cuz not always is it baseball cards. If you haven't, Jon, you need to post what has to be the wall of VHS tapes you have. I see all your pickups from the thrift stores. Don't think Jon found what he mailed to me at a thrift store, though.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6xoQJlLC3h0dSE-FLewGs_0elkNlkvyvK6EEvcI8AM8hRoFoK2nbLqQQMxatruBhtwM2wG7-yu4-Rg221yi0FvpT4tiOmloEYCmIehgFzr1girY29uGtrW9L027L71CgWC0_6KsF5RLk/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="856" data-original-width="928" height="588" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6xoQJlLC3h0dSE-FLewGs_0elkNlkvyvK6EEvcI8AM8hRoFoK2nbLqQQMxatruBhtwM2wG7-yu4-Rg221yi0FvpT4tiOmloEYCmIehgFzr1girY29uGtrW9L027L71CgWC0_6KsF5RLk/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There's 6 of the almost 2 dozen buy backs in Jon's mailer. Some really nice cards in there. I just love that Wilson at the bottom. He's scoping the stands, picking out the woman he will be talking home tonight. And it's your girlfriend, cuz none can resist the gaze of Glenn Wilson. Two other cards were in the envelope<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr6ttIKE-tqFDgSTuxC2C_1QVwovIQuMnYIhIwAWqUPjiUYMjwzczft19pyZOh79iD_Xk5SaIqSRPBOlgro7J9mUTqYIaqtVpkorECgE5w_taIbnuoa69T3ESBlQPBiucI3oClY1y3VtE/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="452" data-original-width="614" height="470" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr6ttIKE-tqFDgSTuxC2C_1QVwovIQuMnYIhIwAWqUPjiUYMjwzczft19pyZOh79iD_Xk5SaIqSRPBOlgro7J9mUTqYIaqtVpkorECgE5w_taIbnuoa69T3ESBlQPBiucI3oClY1y3VtE/s640/2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
BOOM!!!! 1998 Topps Finest - sweet. And dig that GORGEOUS 1953 Bowman of Lou Cretlow. Well loved for sure, and I will give it even more love. What a shot of Yankee Stadium in the background. Jon, I owe you for sure on these. I know I have some cards aside for you, but I think I can do some damage to your want lists.<br />
<br />
Last for today is from Paul at <a href="https://scribbledinc.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Scribbled Ink</a>. Lot to be jealous about with Paul's post (mainly all the autos he has), but he dropped a nice mailer on me for you to be jealous about.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhUcH9ohmD6vjjiRRHC3j6mAWYQQP7BeohGwjAH49pwRMi_okggVuT0HQXi6atR7JY-Z88wmXQo3ISw-kbXzaAwIKn3k1_30iy6ZG5oB69sLOTLAGHMib72P29GFIiL1CFBtcKniWGURY/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="725" data-original-width="920" height="504" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhUcH9ohmD6vjjiRRHC3j6mAWYQQP7BeohGwjAH49pwRMi_okggVuT0HQXi6atR7JY-Z88wmXQo3ISw-kbXzaAwIKn3k1_30iy6ZG5oB69sLOTLAGHMib72P29GFIiL1CFBtcKniWGURY/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
BLACKHAWKS!!!! All these cards are from the Ultimate Original 6 set. I used to have dang near this entire set, but I believe it got water damaged and had to end it's life in a dump somewhere. Getting a bunch of the Hawks from the set is a blessing. I mean, look at the Pilote at the bottom right. Clean ad free boards, the shadows, the fans all dressed up like it's a night out - that's heaven, horizontally.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXoQDoUWsTvQadsDZpPaYyqCEKEvVLhl1DWuyyBX5j9HHALxko3Sb_D-3jljNhyhG7EIXo265rp1B6uG14FK4nInjTn88iziYqdcXqEas7AtQP6aVc-bnK85TF4bId5tjklY-4Hl0yGgg/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="421" data-original-width="920" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXoQDoUWsTvQadsDZpPaYyqCEKEvVLhl1DWuyyBX5j9HHALxko3Sb_D-3jljNhyhG7EIXo265rp1B6uG14FK4nInjTn88iziYqdcXqEas7AtQP6aVc-bnK85TF4bId5tjklY-4Hl0yGgg/s640/2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Some recent net minders for the Hawks. All three have their names on the Cup - 'Bulin with the Lightning, Huet with the Hawks and Belfore with the Stars.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Some nice Sox in the package too. I don't get Panini's products, so it's nice when I get them sent to me since I have all but stopped buying them. 2017 Topps Chrome parallels are weird.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3FMUltQRXn2ON3DjYPuZoRYqYGCUQtBTRn0o4c10ty2_FwIqNQ0Ph9CsiRiilOO6-ajn00hay4AWLr-pSDAxSLIg4ESmmCNvjq1pT3n62ig5F7muspy5LdOBTyd_MHu-OjyqK0GvHYvY/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="847" data-original-width="923" height="586" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3FMUltQRXn2ON3DjYPuZoRYqYGCUQtBTRn0o4c10ty2_FwIqNQ0Ph9CsiRiilOO6-ajn00hay4AWLr-pSDAxSLIg4ESmmCNvjq1pT3n62ig5F7muspy5LdOBTyd_MHu-OjyqK0GvHYvY/s640/4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Player collection Sox. I have been hoping to score some BBM Iguchi cards for cheap on ebay, but not having a lot of luck. If anyone has a better place to pick up foreign singles of him, I am all ears.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Last image for this post is a group of needed vintage of early 80's White Sox. I can only remember Comiskey with having yellow bars separating the lower boxes, so seeing them painted white behind Farmer is weird.<br />
<br />
Also, Rusty Kuntz.<br />
<br />
Thanks Paul. I'll so my best to get a return package to you soon.<br />
<br />
Well look at me, getting all caught up. Getting close...<br />

I am doing my best to knock this out and post before 7, so I hope I can make that happen. A really recent bit of news prompted this post. So let's get on with it.<br />
<br />
Players come and go in baseball. Some get a sip of coffee. Some get a couple seasons watching from the bench, getting in here and there. Some have decent careers to earn a living playing a child's game. A rare few have a career that gives them a plaque of immortality. You have to be really good for that hall enshrinement. Just being around for many, many years guarantees nothing.<br />
<br />

When Jamie Moyer retired in 2012, he has been in the Bigs 25 years, third place in most seasons played. Ahead of him are HOFers Nolan Ryan and Cap Anson, and HOFer Ricky Henderson is tied with him. But ahead of him with 26 seasons in the league are two players not in the HOF - Tommy John and Deacon McGuire. So you may have the talent and skill to make it in your profession for very long, but unless you have a surgery named after you, there is a chance your name will slip into obscurity in the future, no matter your talent. No plaques exist in the Hall of Pretty Darn Good.<br />
<br />
2009 Topps had a great design template that allowed really good cropping of the pictures, and a fair amount of them are not so close to lose out on the context of the photo. And for Jamie's card this year, that home plate with the Phillies logo balances out his leg kick and weights the whole card really well.<br />
<br />
This would be for a great final card, but Jamie had other ideas. The baseball writers also had other ideas, not giving Jamie enough votes on his one and only ballot appearance to make it on the following year's ticket. If Jamie's plaque is going to be produced, it will have to come from another group of people who decide he's that good.<br />

<br />
I just learned, as others have, that Neal Peart from Rush died a couple days back. By no means can I say Rush had a huge influence on me and my music life. But holy shit - Rush f*cking rocked! I would listen to the albums my brothers had. Rush was nothing like what you heard on the radio. It was art performed by three men. Three men that mastered the instruments in their hands. On any other band, each would have been the superstar. In Rush, they were three that complimented each other and took music places yet heard.<br />
<br />
And did I mention they f*cking rocked?!?! For 44 years.<br />
<br />
Rush appeared on a single HOF ballot in their career. For some reason, it took fan outrage for them to finally be considered worthy of a look at induction. A full 25% of the votes from fans were given to Rush. Fortunately, the Hall did the right thing in 2013.<br />
<br />
For those unaware, Rush is considered prog rock. And if you can't hear it in their more mainstream hits, Cygnus X-1 from Rush's 1977 release "A Farewell To Kings" will help you understand the genre, somewhat. Ten minutes. Turn on the light above your black light poster and enjoy the next 10 minutes.<br />
<br />
Bonus Rush:<br />

Hopefully, he will be wearing it well, with proper pants blousing. The picture may be from the front of the card, or the back. Enjoy the uniforms from years past.<br />

Looking at the names on the directories, I am going to post a single one today, only because I think it's the oldest mailing to display. By the way, for those scoring at home, all these scans are stored on a portable hard drive. And if you are not scoring at home, try flowers.<br />

Many, many moons ago I jumped on a post from Scott at <a href="http://scottcrawfordoncards.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Scott Crawford Cards</a>. How many moons ago? Click that link and realize Scott started a new blog almost 3 years ago. I really suck. So these cards really came from Scott at <a href="https://www.ineednewhobbies.com/" target="_blank">I Need New Hobbies</a>. Scott was giving a great price on cards, so I took him up on the offer as there were huge sections of my Sox box lacking content. For all the wax put out in the years from 87 to the mid 2000's, some of those years were thin. Scott did a look see at want lists and made me an offer that I didn't want to refuse, so I bought them. I won't go into too much detail on the scans, but here's some of the 500+ cards I got.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhsZuL4J0eviMKB0sLyO3I_TUW-yuyab-3-XlJhbZxewbu9EfO0CRPzji17jjneV3TUQKpI2V12F_S9Mlcb7NBIuoatOJFoA6x4iyCTfcA3cowddqKmEnqtnDJDqbSa5NHm0IBz3TlAo4/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="854" data-original-width="918" height="594" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhsZuL4J0eviMKB0sLyO3I_TUW-yuyab-3-XlJhbZxewbu9EfO0CRPzji17jjneV3TUQKpI2V12F_S9Mlcb7NBIuoatOJFoA6x4iyCTfcA3cowddqKmEnqtnDJDqbSa5NHm0IBz3TlAo4/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My Hawks first, who delightfully (for me) beat up on the Dead Wings yesterday. And yes, the Hawks actually had both Tony and Phil at one time. While we got Pit Martin in <a href="https://thehockeywriters.com/a-trade-that-shaped-a-franchise/" target="_blank">the trade with Boston</a>, we got the bad end of that deal, basically building the Bruin's dynasty in the late 60's and early 70's. It was only the Flyers and Habs that stopped them at 2 Cup wins in that time frame.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I think I had the Hull booklet, but never the Tony O. Love the 81-82 Topps in the middle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9lZ76_fTAOe2XHhjDLkSpno4agCzhq2RsIyiFHqmnqT-ZVIDeCoXnA5rUQVpXm5K6SH-y57bHibwEcz3Fq0xl3A2QjnPmD94saPYmaIowh3lMhc_Cale45BuEfQUxPa-O_rOd8qRzazo/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="829" data-original-width="590" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9lZ76_fTAOe2XHhjDLkSpno4agCzhq2RsIyiFHqmnqT-ZVIDeCoXnA5rUQVpXm5K6SH-y57bHibwEcz3Fq0xl3A2QjnPmD94saPYmaIowh3lMhc_Cale45BuEfQUxPa-O_rOd8qRzazo/s640/3.jpg" width="454" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a couple pics inside the booklets. No mask. Odd.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
On to the baseball portion. These are set builders. So many cards to go in these sets.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BlLpomvdLusLHDjFrLdGH3U69_8pd2grcvnmJ56pZRFK9ILwI6el-7a2WAjsqZAeohDJkqVtBSHJXUiLQ4k8iVVlk94J3kmGW5H3oYsCX7TZBOAwYKJNk_0XUw0xiBxFcqLXi6Dvq8A/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="734" data-original-width="918" height="510" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BlLpomvdLusLHDjFrLdGH3U69_8pd2grcvnmJ56pZRFK9ILwI6el-7a2WAjsqZAeohDJkqVtBSHJXUiLQ4k8iVVlk94J3kmGW5H3oYsCX7TZBOAwYKJNk_0XUw0xiBxFcqLXi6Dvq8A/s640/5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
VINTAGE!!!!! The rookie Goose still evades me at a normal price. All these and more were cards I could mark off the want lists.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxax4RiEmfP6Yg_vVh5KVkx2CdDewfc8ziQB7ljA6nmVJrViKkANoFWMpz1Z2alCe2WRYx4BZ_qVzhdAuPFhSUPQrh9RtVvpaZD_fNwe_hbfNMfp9cJMbya2CBRdZ56L3kYdFPwcVIYfY/s1600/6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="850" data-original-width="915" height="594" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxax4RiEmfP6Yg_vVh5KVkx2CdDewfc8ziQB7ljA6nmVJrViKkANoFWMpz1Z2alCe2WRYx4BZ_qVzhdAuPFhSUPQrh9RtVvpaZD_fNwe_hbfNMfp9cJMbya2CBRdZ56L3kYdFPwcVIYfY/s640/6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
PC additions. Just a sample of them. Rowand looks like he is 9.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg03XvSYvoKrdWkr5OJf4_zxdRmZ8iRm7U5mDMpw0t4kCpZXDrxDhGkeTvRuh_auURealRRmlNQbrVfYS3R8xJoDMyPzqiAl89v0OGRCEAw6vvltpFfInaTuOzCuPCXif9WQYS9RPhWkRU/s1600/7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="853" data-original-width="920" height="592" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg03XvSYvoKrdWkr5OJf4_zxdRmZ8iRm7U5mDMpw0t4kCpZXDrxDhGkeTvRuh_auURealRRmlNQbrVfYS3R8xJoDMyPzqiAl89v0OGRCEAw6vvltpFfInaTuOzCuPCXif9WQYS9RPhWkRU/s640/7.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now we hit the cruz of the purchase - junk wax set builders. One day I will catalog non Topps flagship sets to know just what I am missing. I was in the stands when the Sox clinched the playoffs in 1993. I remember <a href="https://youtu.be/MiumpwgZ4bo" target="_blank">Bo's 14 mile high pop</a> up that just kept carrying and landed about 10 feet beyond the fence to seal the win.<br />
<br />
Also - Rusty Kuntz.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2qru0Vt7-2-85i4J4UF85Bs_hhu6Ofb4kJ8W4ql4umR19UEThoWfQ0Zh9hKU_9DEoajuw5prIUQPcFwqyowk6nUWXARSl-_flYnqKm9qohry5lCCXcRDG0h3SjyDjsHFOXpNWuMV0tZo/s1600/8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="855" data-original-width="920" height="594" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2qru0Vt7-2-85i4J4UF85Bs_hhu6Ofb4kJ8W4ql4umR19UEThoWfQ0Zh9hKU_9DEoajuw5prIUQPcFwqyowk6nUWXARSl-_flYnqKm9qohry5lCCXcRDG0h3SjyDjsHFOXpNWuMV0tZo/s640/8.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Two HOF in this image. And a great One Dog snag at the fence.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Score trying to steal UD thunder with the Drabek.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Speaking of Upper Deck.... How great is '93 UD? One of my favorite sets.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Busted prospects for the Sox, though the guys in the middle, Escobar and Holmberg, have had success with other clubs. Ely had a few cups of coffee at the start of the 2010s with the Dodgers.<br />
<br />
And the last scan....<br />
<br />

Only in the sense that someone started it and I saw a couple other blogs that followed. If I am correct, Shane from <a href="http://shoeboxlegends.blogspot.com/2019/12/2019-deleted-scenes.html" target="_blank">Shoebox Legends</a> did the first post of images that never made it onto the blog in 2019. And I at times have done that very thing - scanned something that fails to appear in a post. Difference is: I just delete the thing. I've long forgotten my intention for the image (more than likely a lame joke), so Shift+Delete and away it goes forever.<br />

However, I do have scans that I haven't delete, for they are from packages received that never were shown here. I would like to claim they are all from sometime in 2019, but I am fairly certain there will unfortunately be cards from this series of posts that showed up in the offices of 2 by 3 Heroes in 2018. And that's wrong on a lot of levels. Punishments will be dealt out.<br />
<br />

Let's get a few folders deleted for the right reasons. First up is John from <a href="https://johnnnystradingspot.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Johnny's Trading Spot</a>. According to the note I left, these cards are from a mailing he called Christmas in May. I do hope it was May 2019, but it may have been longer. Anyhow....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsUWoBSjRIbJ9wEs2qVBZ1hZu777rDFPpPvCj5CS3g0C6u1AKrISthAeOjyGxL-y0CS0Eyuw1uZT2db9Z0f4OsZY1JmHXTRDuxFT3LUgbjrS6NeUZ2hdAlJWO8Par4kRjM_DctO3dwSQw/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="605" data-original-width="736" height="526" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsUWoBSjRIbJ9wEs2qVBZ1hZu777rDFPpPvCj5CS3g0C6u1AKrISthAeOjyGxL-y0CS0Eyuw1uZT2db9Z0f4OsZY1JmHXTRDuxFT3LUgbjrS6NeUZ2hdAlJWO8Par4kRjM_DctO3dwSQw/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Some relevant at this time of year Star Wars cards. I only have been working on the ANH Topps sets. I might pick up the ESB and ROTJ sets in the future, but I'll just buy those complete sets. And even that is a maybe. I like the ANH sets cuz I have fond memories of the wax packs. I think I opened just a couple packs of ESB and zero ROTJ.<br />
<br />

Handful of Sox in his mailing. Not sure what is up with that Select checklist logo. It looks weird.<br />

But the bulk was bunting. Usually I will make note of how many of a particular binder card I receive, but I failed on this one. I have these three scanned...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And these, but I am certain there were more than 6 John sent. How about the rare bunt/throwback of Jose Cruz Jr on the left? Sheer beauty. Thanks John for that cards. Sorry it took me this long to thank you in public.<br />
<br />
One other mailing, so I don't drag this post out too long, came from <a href="http://nightowlcards.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Night Owl</a>. According to Windows, I created this folder on Jan 13, 2019. I really do suck.<br />

Nope. Not PC'ing Moncada. But a great handful of cards for the Sox box. The single color blue Fire does not look as good as it's base counterpart at the lower right.<br />

YUM!!!!! Houston needs to bring back those unis as throwbacks. And a close look at Foli - those are the wool flannel version, which in my opinion are FAR nicer than the double knit polyester they switched to on '73. Thanks Greg.<br />
<br />
So that makes two folders of scans I can delete and..... 6 remaining, plus like 5 stacks on the desk I need to scan. So that's makes:<br />

Hopefully, he will be wearing it well, with proper pants blousing. The picture may be from the front of the card, or the back. Enjoy the uniforms from years past.<br />

One of the latest Blog Bat Arounds comes from Matt at <a href="http://diamond-jesters.blogspot.com/2019/12/blog-bat-round-2019-yearbook-page.html" target="_blank">Diamond Jesters</a>. It's a 9 pocket page of the 2019 season in baseball cards. I have seen a few, and <a href="http://nightowlcards.blogspot.com/2019/12/page-turner.html" target="_blank">Night Owl's post</a> is what prompted me to join in. For N.O., card #1 of the project, on his page, was a horizontal card, and he didn't want a single east/west card messing up the aesthetic with 8 cards going north/south. So Greg flipped the page and did 9 horizontal cards. Looks good.<br />
<br />
For me though, I am going to set some personal rules in my page. First, all portrait. That will be tough when you hear rule #2. All cards must be cards I own. They can only come from my trade box or cards on my desk. And since I recently got all my 2019 White Sox cards sorted and put away, I won't have that team to pick from (one ChiSox card almost made it - we'll talk). Matt's guidelines didn't have the "you must own it" rule, but I wanted to actually place the cards in a page and scan - no photo shopping allowed. I must have physically touched the cards.<br />
<br />

Let's look at my 2019 yearbook:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtMN5h6yudA_3Mig6rQSitOH1lILVF7r6gNs2gFk1eGJsfTHgryn0NfRO8G5z88a0-AlHeSntIq9Ew-2nC4xvQkFUcpQKkRgA4B3ljJ3W_gK17Q4YwX3qVBJNABnSY7osk0RNNpUqLIm0/s1600/bataround.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1364" data-original-width="987" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtMN5h6yudA_3Mig6rQSitOH1lILVF7r6gNs2gFk1eGJsfTHgryn0NfRO8G5z88a0-AlHeSntIq9Ew-2nC4xvQkFUcpQKkRgA4B3ljJ3W_gK17Q4YwX3qVBJNABnSY7osk0RNNpUqLIm0/s640/bataround.jpg" width="462" /></a></div>
<br />
<b>1 - Flagship</b>: Right off the bat, this is the spot where my self imposed rule 2 became an issue. Hernandez going high for the turn at second is a very good card. but in my dupes for Opening Day, I had this card:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoImIa4mqI0VbfeGomZ70HOiYWV4cvNH_2Xe3sROYqt-EkGbXpauTvaFZzITWDqjrAmQ3gDIagE7XwLOED0fEp82o3gwetezQ7TffAfve7ygNQKUvgnXX5RbT-ht09v-eRBn03dKMmzg4/s1600/bataround+alt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="417" data-original-width="300" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoImIa4mqI0VbfeGomZ70HOiYWV4cvNH_2Xe3sROYqt-EkGbXpauTvaFZzITWDqjrAmQ3gDIagE7XwLOED0fEp82o3gwetezQ7TffAfve7ygNQKUvgnXX5RbT-ht09v-eRBn03dKMmzg4/s400/bataround+alt.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
<br />
That is what his 2019 flagship card looks like, but the flagship version is not in my dupes box, so I had to pick a second choice for the page. Hopefully it will turn up at a card show, cuz that Garver belongs in my Hidden Gems binder.<br />
<br />
<b>2 - Allen & Ginter</b>: It's a nun. On a baseball card. With a glove and ball. Who packs more heat than you ever have.<br />
<br />
<b>3 - Gypsy Queen</b>: I will never be embarrassed to show my love of GQ. With Ginter and Gypsy, my life is pretty complete. How great is that card? Rare to see a submarine pitcher any more, and Topps did some great framing on this card.<br />
<br />
<b>4 - Stadium Club</b>: Here is where a White Sox card almost made the cut.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM0q2qr8cLt8_DWXJm7SVCl8gvAPhi7ruVA0tMbS27ALSBZH-nLAP774RD6BiJxE9mliWjFajDmQqVMJraFw44NVqAfdT8Sp8-vxofCNqZUXvL3W_htSTkkj7FJ5hhb-JjvFoKFunNxC8/s1600/bataround+alt2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="419" data-original-width="300" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhM0q2qr8cLt8_DWXJm7SVCl8gvAPhi7ruVA0tMbS27ALSBZH-nLAP774RD6BiJxE9mliWjFajDmQqVMJraFw44NVqAfdT8Sp8-vxofCNqZUXvL3W_htSTkkj7FJ5hhb-JjvFoKFunNxC8/s400/bataround+alt2.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>
<br />
Throwback? Gleeful joy? It's a great card. But Juan Soto looks perfect on his card. Shooting from below, getting all that gorgeous stadium in the background, the light standard powered up, Soto's look over his shoulder. Clear winner.<br />
<br />
<b>5 - Big League</b>: Topps could just drop Opening Day and have Big League replace it. It's a fun set with a few cards here and there standing out. Baseball and bubble gum. Like peanut butter and jelly.<br />
<br />
<b>6 - Diamond Kings</b>: The only non Topps on the page, it's really the only Panini product I can tolerate. Unless I find Panini in a dime box, my only Panini retail purchase is a bit of Diamond Kings. Topps last gave any cardboard love to Crawford in 2002. Even though the fog in the corners cuts down a bit on the image, it's pretty. All DK's legend players look great.<br />
<br />
<b>7 - Greatest Moments insert</b>: As you can guess, not a lot of insert cards in a dupe box. But quickly came upon this card of Bo. I'm assuming Topps manipulated the photo slightly, either dulling the background or cleaning Bo to make him stand out. Mr. Jackson pops on this card.<br />
<br />
<b>8 - Ballpark Evolution insert</b>: Along with my love of GQ, if you put a baseball stadium on a card, I will love it forever. I need to get all the stadium clubs organized from this year's flagship, and I need to secure this entire insert set. Let's hope dime boxes are kind to me - I have 39 more to go.<br />
<br />
<b>9 - Archives</b>: Spot 9 was a tough one for me. I wanted an Archives card on the page, but the only ones I really loved broke the no horizontal rule. I thought Topps did a great job with many of the subjects in the 1993 section (Ruth, Gehrig, Irvin, Wagner), I went with Mr Cub for one specific reason. Dig the centennial patch on his right sleeve. A simple copy of the Jerry Dior logo on the sleeves of the players that year.<br />
<br />
While my 2019 is technically not finished (I have want lists, ya know), this sort of puts a fork into the year. 32 days until 2020 releases. Another year's set I won't collect. <br />

The whole plan was to get back to blogging a month ago. And the astute readers will notice that didn't happen. Not from a lack of trying, though a lack of desire definitely played a part.<br />
<br />
So where have I been in the past......while. I don't even feel like doing the math to see when my posting really dropped to nothing. 7 months? Probably more. I've thought about how to address my time away, but in the end I determined the reasons don't matter much. It'd be a long chain of words that no one really wants to read. I'm not saying you whom have read to this point don't care, but my life is boring. Trust me - relating been going on in so unexciting a freshly painted bench want to go elsewhere.<br />
<br />

I'll give you a one sentence rundown of where I was over this past time: no longer working from home, so 3+ hours of commute each day along with Uber driving burnout, daughter's wedding (401k loan thank goodness) and general malaise of life.<br />
<br />
And we're done. Told you - boring. You were warned.<br />
<br />
In all the free time I have mostly been playing video games because it's easy numbing of the brain after traffic to a shitty job and worse traffic home. Being creative was not on the agenda. But I wanted to get back because so much was received from so many and people we never given a proper due, and I have had ideas I should put in motion if only that I know I did said idea. Thankfully, mailings have stopped, and I cannot be more grateful that you all have lost my address. Reciprocation has recently started up again, and I owe many. Yes - OWE. Just deal with that word. Still a lot of mailing left, so if you were thinking of sending me something, please don't. Not at this time.<br />
<br />
I don't want to drag on the start of this first post in forever, so I think that is all I want to say about my time away.....<br />

Oh yeah...... my future wife says hi. Anyhow, I have many cards I've received scanned and posts of them planned, but let's show a few recent pickups here. Nothing great or amazing, but stuff I like. All cards were ebay purchases sometime after my last real post.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKs1njoNiKkIM2E45dS69CrziVHuL-yvk9lIdcJkmm_HegYmQZiLad7eYtm0bx0tNdBUxDZS4QGp0-VwFZ1PX0u_goSndNY2cu3WAhCdA4WsU6ppotVvTJ5TUNdYcczO0eLv47S_NND6s/s1600/purchase+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="703" data-original-width="1026" height="438" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKs1njoNiKkIM2E45dS69CrziVHuL-yvk9lIdcJkmm_HegYmQZiLad7eYtm0bx0tNdBUxDZS4QGp0-VwFZ1PX0u_goSndNY2cu3WAhCdA4WsU6ppotVvTJ5TUNdYcczO0eLv47S_NND6s/s640/purchase+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Couple autographs of non White Sox, but technically, each one has a White Sox connection. Phil Humber won't be making the HOF ever, but he is one of 23 players to throw a perfect game. He fits into three binder pages where I plan to collects autographs of the perfect game pitchers. A few probably will never appear in there (Cy Young and Sandy Koufax come to mind), but who knows. Now Jamie Burke had a few cups of coffee in the bigs (191 total games in 8 years). He crossed the base paths for 64 total games on the South Side, with a single game in his last year with the Sox. That year, though, was 2005, which makes Mr. Burke a member of <a href="http://www.2x3heroes.com/p/project-2005.html" target="_blank">Project 2005</a>. Best I can tell, this is the only certified autograph he has in the hobby, so he goes into the 9 pocket as a Mariner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I am fairly certain these three player collection cards were a buck or less. Bowman had some crazy inserts in the early 2000's. Hard to tell from the scan, but the Petrick is the international edition of his card. 2009 Goodwin is the BEST year of Goodwin. Fight me.<br />
<br />

<br />
Last is this relic card I snipped for under $10. First relic card of a Black Sox player, Lefty lost games 2, 5 and 8 (was a best of 9 back then), being one of only two pitchers in history to lose 3 games in a single World Series. I'd love to obtain cards from all 8 members of the Black Sox issued during their playing days. Maybe after I score that Cy Young autograph......<br />
<br />
I've blabbed enough. Thanks for reading. I'll do my best to get a couple posts a week. At the very least Throwback Thursday should have continued, but I suck and failed to do that. With luck I will suck less in 2020.<br />
<br />
Let's light this bottle rocket again!<br />

So if you read <a href="http://baseballdimebox.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Dimebox Nick</a>'s blog, and if you don't maybe you need to visit a doctor, a recent post shared his card show spoils. I remember an earlier post about a couple card shows coming up he was attending, and I was hoping one was the Orland show, as I had carved out a little time to pay that show a visit on the same day. Sure enough, I guessed correctly and got to do some digging with Nick and his father. If you haven't, <a href="http://baseballdimebox.blogspot.com/2019/03/lets-try-this-again-card-show-report.html" target="_blank">enjoy his spoils</a>. I commented I would have my own recap of the show, and here it is.<br />
<br />
Now, Nick had a hell of a haul mainly because he had a hell of a pull that paid for the card show. I had some bonus money that I could spend on myself, so while I didn't purchase anywhere near the amazing cardboard he did (if Nick turned his head I would have stolen a few of his cards), I still got some great paper rectangles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm still working on the 2018 White Sox team set, as well as needing to get 2019 going. Technically, I <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/142QoYehTmsbZukFTKE-RwAVAqEIQ0H2oDfVZtxujaSM/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">still need some</a> from 2017, but I got about a dozen for 2018 (leaving me 3 short) and all but 2 cards from 2019. Though, I REALLY need that <a href="https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wVcAAOSwpzRcUSkn/s-l1600.jpg" target="_blank">Kopech SP</a>. That sucker is goooooooooooooorgeous! I also picked up 75-80% of the Sox Heritage team set.<br />
<br />

<br />
Really, I am working a lot of 2018 sets - it was a bad card year for me. And bad blog year. And bad work year. I'm digressing.... Picked up about 40 cards towards the '18 Stadium Club. Here's a few. Love those Indian throwbacks. Cleveland needs to wear them more often. One thing I noticed from the group I bought: the horizontal cards are much better images than the vertical. I hope Topps fixes that come 2019.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhNxCh8wgwqDMvOIQVYT76Eg_y6FDXtz5mEPm4Li7xQ0QvGgJDFd1bL93OlV5pd1KLY2tH6ejqZatnZ4tXiDlEfUcTZ9RvGafxlfCwTL1Hb8E-pWsjcWqol6Nm3iy13bx9rvP35-nybB0/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="419" data-original-width="915" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhNxCh8wgwqDMvOIQVYT76Eg_y6FDXtz5mEPm4Li7xQ0QvGgJDFd1bL93OlV5pd1KLY2tH6ejqZatnZ4tXiDlEfUcTZ9RvGafxlfCwTL1Hb8E-pWsjcWqol6Nm3iy13bx9rvP35-nybB0/s640/3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Nick talked about one vendors 50 cent and two dollar box. This particular vendor is there each show, and let me tell you - his cards are AMAZING! He has a box of 60's commons at a buck a card. You may think that's a bit high, until you look and the cards appear to have been pulled from packs a week ago. They are that good. And he's always willing to work out a deal. These above are a combo of 50 cents and 2 dollar cards. Peters and DeBusschere go into the Sox binder while Ruiz is an obvious bunt card. I pulled 20 cards from the 50 cent box and a dozen or so from the $2 box. I had to put back a good 20 cards cuz I just ran out of cash.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnvK5aMAatbWFUfZYQMfl8fWtiLykSlOtLVaZSTm-vuv_f2El4QjU0FCfNuiR7gtQmdQT-8fAhvi9y_NowcEXLLuxJWAFy6MPIAVDkoL1FxMt7hEn7yvXxZZ1zCljKePWAioTH3oub6YY/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="735" data-original-width="609" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnvK5aMAatbWFUfZYQMfl8fWtiLykSlOtLVaZSTm-vuv_f2El4QjU0FCfNuiR7gtQmdQT-8fAhvi9y_NowcEXLLuxJWAFy6MPIAVDkoL1FxMt7hEn7yvXxZZ1zCljKePWAioTH3oub6YY/s640/4.jpg" width="530" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's some '64s for the build. All total, I knocked 14 cards off the 64 set, getting me to 77% completion. These, and the others I purchased, fit right into the quality I am satisfied with. I actually knocked 3 cards from series 7, and those cost me just two quarters each. But the highlights of my purchases come next.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPTGk8b3lPio-HMiDYF5jyCWcDhVGhPJFOGyjqLcGDKlpQ0_eLHkQx25pk7ADmWwTSC43PfmWnf2XHh5_j3_svrSTXSfxjcszT-ocg_M9stkOymGYYDPW6omNJiAJxaZjChMa9UrMQcJo/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="737" data-original-width="609" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPTGk8b3lPio-HMiDYF5jyCWcDhVGhPJFOGyjqLcGDKlpQ0_eLHkQx25pk7ADmWwTSC43PfmWnf2XHh5_j3_svrSTXSfxjcszT-ocg_M9stkOymGYYDPW6omNJiAJxaZjChMa9UrMQcJo/s640/5.jpg" width="528" /></a></div>
<br />
Two bucks each. Some pen marks on the 64 Pizzaro stand up, but who's passing on that for $2? And one of the first really big cards for the set in the Robinson. $5-10 for that online, or more, so I am content with that one for $2. I needed the Fox/Kuenn for the Sox team set. And that ends the $2 box purchases I will show. But I have two more cards left.<br />
<br />
Nick and I went back to do a little more digging at the table. It was this trip he scored the Bowman Kaline, McCovery rookie and the 66 Clemente (I found that) among others. And in that dig I picked up my two big purchases at $5 each.<br />

<br />
We all know how hard it is to find Bowman color at a good price. I have needed this Lollar for his PC for quite some time. Regularly over $10 online, so I jumped at a really great copy with a creased corner. The creased '50 Bowman Luke Appling is the first of his playing days cards I have. Appling is a future PC, so finding this for a fin was a deal considering its condition. Easily twice that online.<br />
<br />
Good show with a good time with good friends. We were all a little light in our wallets, but that happens in Orland. Oh.<br />

Hopefully, he will be wearing it well, with proper pants blousing. The picture may be from the front of the card, or the back. Enjoy the uniforms from years past.<br />

I snapped the pics from my phone and linked the images from my Google Photos account. Yeah - guess it's not working, so I downloaded the edited the post. If you wanna see the spoils, you should be able to now. But on to current business.... <br />
<br />
We have all heard the phrase "there's one in every group". It's extremely true here on the blogs as it is elsewhere in the world. <br />
<br />

Many have sung the praise of the closing of <a href="http://jaybarkerfan.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">JayBarkerFan/Area 40</a>, run by the one and only Wes. This group of ours here in blog world is beyond generous. Wes' level of magnanimity is hard to follow. He has "bombed" a few of us (myself included), and I think we all recall the epic wars between Wes and Matt from <a href="http://bobwalktheplank.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Bob Walk The Plank</a>. If you ever decide to come back to battle, Wes, I'm not sure who you could hit (cough cough) <a href="https://acrackedbat.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: xx-small;">a cracked bat</span></a> (cough cough cough)?<br />
<br />
Wes is taking a leave, hopefully not permanently, and had his amazing blow out to close out his blog. I requested my White Sox and Blackhawks. So while there are other older packages I need to post, I hope you forgive me and move Wes to the front of the line.<br />

<br />
My only Blackhawks hit was this auto of former captain Dirk Graham. A few failed prospects with the Broadway, Rogowski and Lopez, and a failed manager with Ventura. Still some great additions to the autograph binder. My big hit was this beauty...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqdPkNcydJIJmgqvFLhsjpfLsDv55qMMEEiYL3IRO03z9DldfQtwLiZDcD-zMOovPR-v3eVY6Yw-vHR0eqvtCq5e2r5B2ChjEFF3mw8pLYxhpt0-L0V70kg0mwv-B1nLilkwmfIB6eo28/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="659" data-original-width="1027" height="256" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqdPkNcydJIJmgqvFLhsjpfLsDv55qMMEEiYL3IRO03z9DldfQtwLiZDcD-zMOovPR-v3eVY6Yw-vHR0eqvtCq5e2r5B2ChjEFF3mw8pLYxhpt0-L0V70kg0mwv-B1nLilkwmfIB6eo28/s400/5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Hard to scan a slabbed card, but you can easily make out what it is. A fantastic addition to the HOF autograph binder. I never thought I could have an autograph of this man in my possession, and here it is. Fun fact: did you know between 1949 and 1964 (16 years), only two teams not named the Yankees won the AL pennant? Both of those teams were coached by Al Lopez ('54 Indians and '59 White Sox).<br />
<br />
Wes, thanks for the memories and thanks for the largesse of your heart. Don't be a stranger.<br />

<br />
Take away my Christmas greeting, and it's been six months since I have spoken my mind and clicked the publish button. I lot has happened in those 180 days. Not amazing or discussion worthy, but situations none the less. And I have contemplated long about what to say of the recent past: how to phrase it, what to mention, what to avoid.<br />
<br />
In the end, though, I'm just going to leave the time to myself. Activities, both positive and negative, took up my time. Emotions, equally positive and negative, affected my days and nights. I am 180 days older than the last post here; that is not up for dispute. But what is up for conversation is what happened and how it affected myself and my family. In the end, though, I am going to keep that to myself. I don't want to present it for discussion. I am not seeking support, shared joy, or words of affirmation. Instead, I am just going to move forward and find my place back into this wonderful group of people. I'm less worried about the blogsphere than anything else.<br />
<br />
I have been trying to work through all the cardboard I have yet to give a proper, public thanks towards the sender. From DJ to Night Owl, HSCA, Scribbled Ink, Scott Crawford, Cracked Bat, Carboard Clubhouse, Penny Sleeves and even Wes' Area 40 blow out, I have much gratitude owed. And a few personal pickups that I can interject here and there. Let's not talk about all the cardboard I need to mail. So many of you I owe. You may not feel that, but it's where I am personally. In regard to this blog, and my collection, my failure to ship out is the highest level of embarrassment I have. I am grateful incoming mailing stopped a few months ago, partially for the fact that I am very unorganized, but mostly to avoid the reminder of my failure to others.<br />
<br />
Things will change here. I will not say when, because I am famous for missed promises. But I am a man of my word, so in time what I say will become reality.<br />
<br />
Anyway, where to start? My thought for this post is to show pickups I made at the White Sox garage sale. Sox hold it 3 times a year, and this is my 2nd trip. When I look at what I purchased with all money donated to charity, I can feel good scoring game used items at 10-15% original cost - retail wise anyway. Without further talking, let's have at it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibvhEKWXMvuCOLVmGqutWS6ZWMbeslkU9lsSfwJUOP7wqFGPVsMzl87bi-tanOe7ckIrjAzH1Ay0ZRbzPX9qm2dvJPWRH3BscFchVcJFdqaLE5tMmYAmAvlZ22Py9Ykzw0GBKzc2QMc3c/s1600/IMG_20181201_123009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="674" data-original-width="1198" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibvhEKWXMvuCOLVmGqutWS6ZWMbeslkU9lsSfwJUOP7wqFGPVsMzl87bi-tanOe7ckIrjAzH1Ay0ZRbzPX9qm2dvJPWRH3BscFchVcJFdqaLE5tMmYAmAvlZ22Py9Ykzw0GBKzc2QMc3c/s640/IMG_20181201_123009.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />First off, for just two quarters each, is the Sox year book and a game program. You see the year book is $5, so a buck total for both is a deal. Would be nicer if I actually went to a game last year so I could score it, but I'll deal.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXbIpKWzFeHv3XK1rgjl4NwccCYsjrUBGNNIzKL3cWDnwUzhWhFVMoC3qT82Z3mm5nWIck8hjJA2o1kzvb0OBX55Q509dcFhNcntbkkQ5LU6qfoZk-W75vNWg2rQJ06trmVXA1zLhPeg4/s1600/IMG_20181201_123053.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1198" data-original-width="674" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXbIpKWzFeHv3XK1rgjl4NwccCYsjrUBGNNIzKL3cWDnwUzhWhFVMoC3qT82Z3mm5nWIck8hjJA2o1kzvb0OBX55Q509dcFhNcntbkkQ5LU6qfoZk-W75vNWg2rQJ06trmVXA1zLhPeg4/s640/IMG_20181201_123053.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
The running joke at home is how I tend to purchase dollar T shirts. It's a bit too true and I am always looking at the clearance racks for deals. But I did have to double the price for this one. Two bucks for a quality shirt with old school logos? No brainer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2r-CNvPPj_8hKfKo0PqLC_Ca0npCBQg7yYWUElwPVyCEO3xuezn-udyieFRo0P8qthIz6jhi4_ongC-nC0ovLDaygNvuWh_xFvXrCHH2AwWzgp_8aTKDO20SB_X_fj5UIXr69IinYwsI/s1600/IMG_20190208_183623.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="808" data-original-width="674" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2r-CNvPPj_8hKfKo0PqLC_Ca0npCBQg7yYWUElwPVyCEO3xuezn-udyieFRo0P8qthIz6jhi4_ongC-nC0ovLDaygNvuWh_xFvXrCHH2AwWzgp_8aTKDO20SB_X_fj5UIXr69IinYwsI/s640/IMG_20190208_183623.jpg" width="532" /></a></div>
<br />For as long as the line was for the sale, I lucked out on this one. It was a giveaway for Raines making the HOF, and I have been watching a few on ebay for $10, hoping to have someone accept a lower offer. Got this for a buck. That is a low offer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrz-Nb55-aeZq5PA_QOOfpzszXdJJ1JyI594KFekE1rdipd8GHEatGVvYxwAmMCXD6yhsLFcl13pklDb14Rc_idpdURp0RMMSDEtax53ftllk6oZ5zijw5dkv30PUwKsud8GDPTscUPt0/s1600/IMG_20190208_183656.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="580" data-original-width="525" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrz-Nb55-aeZq5PA_QOOfpzszXdJJ1JyI594KFekE1rdipd8GHEatGVvYxwAmMCXD6yhsLFcl13pklDb14Rc_idpdURp0RMMSDEtax53ftllk6oZ5zijw5dkv30PUwKsud8GDPTscUPt0/s320/IMG_20190208_183656.jpg" width="289" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
The first garage sale, I bought a game used ball, so I had to pick up another. As opposed to the first one, though, where I just grabbed a bagged ball, I stood with others and punched the authentication hologram into the MLB site to find a ball I can appreciate. I decided on this one, since I recently started an Adam Engel PC. Would have been nicer if it was <a href="https://www.mlb.com/authentication/certificate?type=MLB&hid=JD144752" target="_blank">a hit and not a foul</a>, but I was getting tired typing on my phone. With luck, I can get it signed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwdEFBjhBlZNUj3eSoZfXrh1KMQPc3zgnjp7tJ43CxYAhbTyDXx0wYyjLWtFEDW6oz6zOQRmI3aYYjEn7-mSUDcSFuDpSmyoHWEoGp75cAQzBdNi7-PFVyLeLCH5ChgY8ggKkHpbOZl5M/s1600/IMG_20190208_183730.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="674" data-original-width="805" height="534" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwdEFBjhBlZNUj3eSoZfXrh1KMQPc3zgnjp7tJ43CxYAhbTyDXx0wYyjLWtFEDW6oz6zOQRmI3aYYjEn7-mSUDcSFuDpSmyoHWEoGp75cAQzBdNi7-PFVyLeLCH5ChgY8ggKkHpbOZl5M/s640/IMG_20190208_183730.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I have needed to replace my current Sox cap. It's fitted and the logo is too small. It's dirty and sweaty. I should have something nicer on my head. This was the only Sox cap that would fit on my head. However, I need to improve it.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqf7daSC91cmiKvzxk1k47dv2dFv3lkrqlqVNxhKYTvRIRIa6viwgl2xjjC9lfBD3nA79D2z1ix2rHA1sr9SsUapea0zwEg_xvXtfJqvrhIPrKtxVSqHOvWz3I3Cz22nFYeqmrkFUu1Cc/s1600/IMG_20190208_184214.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="643" data-original-width="748" height="550" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqf7daSC91cmiKvzxk1k47dv2dFv3lkrqlqVNxhKYTvRIRIa6viwgl2xjjC9lfBD3nA79D2z1ix2rHA1sr9SsUapea0zwEg_xvXtfJqvrhIPrKtxVSqHOvWz3I3Cz22nFYeqmrkFUu1Cc/s640/IMG_20190208_184214.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Looks SO much better without that damn New Era logo. About 30 minutes with a seam puller and you can't even tell it was ever there. The best part of the cap is under the brim....<br />

<br />
If this cap was used in 2018, the wearer was either Jose Ruiz of Chris Volstad. Trying to determine whom it was has been a task. At first, considering the size of the cap, I was leaning towards Volstad, him being 6'8" and 235lbs to Ruiz at a teeny 6'1" and 190lbs. Yet, <a href="https://cdn.mlbtraderumors.com/files/2018/07/chris-volstad-whitesox-1024x729.jpg" target="_blank">I found this image</a> of Volstad, and that "4" written on his cap for Danny Farquhar does not match the "4" here. Also, a Google search of "Salmo 91" references Psalm 91 in Spanish. So I think it was Ruiz that owned this. And now it's my baby for a cost of a paper Lincoln.<br />
<br />
My final pickup was a designated purchase. The last jersey I bought is just a little too small. I can wear it, but it is far more comfortable unbuttoned. It's an Anthony Reinzo jersey from 2014 per the laundry tag. This year I lucked out with the first jersey that met my needs as it fit perfectly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It's a jersey from 2015 worn by Héctor Noesí. Curiously the number matches the size. But the key of the selection was the sleeve patches.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This would be a game used jersey after August 11th, which is the first game the pinstripes showed the Pierce memorial patch along with the one for Minoso. Glad this jersey has been bypassed is previous sales so I can have it in my collection.<br />
<br />
So there you have it. The White Sox garage sale from December 2 of 2018. Pitchers and catchers have reported. Spring is just around the corner. And I'm about to hit publish. Amazing.<br />

It's the old "use them or lose them" type of vacation. No real plans. Maybe get to a ball game. Or a day trip or two. But I had a great surprise today when my second cousin, three times removed showed up on my doorstep today.<br />

<br />
Starting at number 10 is Jeff Kent. But after his run-in at second base, he'll need to change his name to Jeff Kent Walk Anymore.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Number 9 is Ray Boone. You can already see the pained look on his face and he just came to realize the error of his ways before gravity takes over. It's been good knowing you, Ray.<br />

A week off. No plans at all besides doing some things around the house that need attention. Maybe the wife and I can get a night out. All depends on the pocket book. I've been trying to whittle down the stacks or cardboard on my desk. I'm hoping to get some mailers out this week cuz daaaaaaaaaaaamn - I need to mail some stuff. I'm better than this, I like to think. At the very least, I should strive to be better than this. It's important to have goals and stay on target.<br />

Let me thank three people that sent small but amazing PWEs to me over the past few months. Matt grabbed a stack from TTS (see comment about needing to mail stuff), and sent a small PWE my direction.<br />

Lots of colored borders, from gold to purple to green and bi-color. I believe that is the first gold border from 2009. Was that foil comment about 56 years of collecting angled like that on all the cards, or did it just happen to be perfectly positioned under Bobby's plant foot? And a card of Quentin doing one of the three things he did: hitting a dinger. The other two were striking out and fighting with Greinke. Who hasn't wanted to punch Zack, though?<br />
<br />
Next up is Dennis from <a href="http://toomanycg.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Too Many Verlanders</a>. One thing Dennis love to do is work on want lists. always sending me cards out of the blue that knock a few here and there. This mailer followed his standard MO.<br />
<br />

<br />
I am still working on 2016 GQ base and inserts. SPs are a "get when the price is right" pickup. And another for the one and done Hometown Heroes set. Boxes of that stuff is SO cheap, with 3 hits in it. I really need to pick one up.<br />
<br />
Lastly, CommishBob from <a href="http://5toolcollector.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Five Tool Collector</a>. Not sure where he went for these, but sure glad he did.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Boom. Shacka. Lacka. Technically, box Fox's are in the player project, though that 1960 is a MAJOR upgrade to the current card in the binder. Both make the cut into the White Sox team sets for the respective year, knocking off a couple needs. And no, I am not building the '56 set. Mr. McMillan makes the double play binder with that sweet background image.<br />
<br />
A big thanks to all three. I know I have stacks set aside for you all, somewhere on this desk. I need a search party.<br />

It's been a month since I have posted, and it's not like I don't have content. So as I groove back in, allow me this simple post about two recent eBay pickups. We'll start with the 2nd card first.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAn9iqQMVbQbEiseqRU-SzdtFjoXCJuBh69a720Ch5BVWmmoF6dV23yf60PI3zJNR4Zm2UH-X1yz1It7_nWsn-xWq26-LkAWoXm4JMW_vYAl_RNKyZ87rUCj22l3eCukKHjtjQPKwITmM/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="419" data-original-width="300" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAn9iqQMVbQbEiseqRU-SzdtFjoXCJuBh69a720Ch5BVWmmoF6dV23yf60PI3zJNR4Zm2UH-X1yz1It7_nWsn-xWq26-LkAWoXm4JMW_vYAl_RNKyZ87rUCj22l3eCukKHjtjQPKwITmM/s400/1.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>
<br />
This is my 3rd or 4th Topps Now card. I have only ever bought one directly from Topps. Othewise, secondary market all the way. Every so often, I will search for White Sox Topps Now cards to see if I can snap one up at a cheap price. I guess Topps put out a set for the American and National league starters, so someone must have bought it and broke it up. But I couldn't pass this card up. I have no idea what the set cost, but selling it with a BIN of $1.99 with a buck shipping seems like a loss. And a loss for me if I didn't pick it up.<br />
<br />
Now, for a dollar more, $0.99 winning bid and $3 shipping, I picked up a card for my Project 2005.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIpy6X2OF-LAjGPdc7ZX4kqo9TYKd2wGvs5uWGLpEW5ynorNxhFxolLph4xxPn3JP6NZGhv0Gt3esD0vqA4t07nXoEs1di3q_nLQpOEOXGEfWYaMMZuy638ukMCDPp-2EI8mSU7KvHYh4/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="419" data-original-width="300" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIpy6X2OF-LAjGPdc7ZX4kqo9TYKd2wGvs5uWGLpEW5ynorNxhFxolLph4xxPn3JP6NZGhv0Gt3esD0vqA4t07nXoEs1di3q_nLQpOEOXGEfWYaMMZuy638ukMCDPp-2EI8mSU7KvHYh4/s400/2.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>
<br />
It's not a certified auto of Freddy Garcia, but all his certified cards tend to be Mariner cards. I have only seen a single card of Freddy with a certified autograph a Sox uniform. And the price of that was a joke. However, this auto looks authentic, and at the price it was listed, should it not be a real sig, the seller still made little money. This card took a while to arrive, though. Almost a month from Florida. I was about to message the seller about the card when I got a call from my daughter a couple weeks ago while I was Uber'ing.<br />
<br />
"Dad, you have mail from Venezuela."<br />
<br />
Um......what?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJVSTE7y3S5ieiM9PKJApJ1bkNV9w_BF3rSomduAbLdizTVspLOOW_tD5LU2a5sB_YE2xjOjKnDWtd5hpvvCHCiS-lPVWwne68ahGvFlmkD1S0T800rHhfJxRmEyBqMDt70Xbg-uf0k9U/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="551" data-original-width="400" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJVSTE7y3S5ieiM9PKJApJ1bkNV9w_BF3rSomduAbLdizTVspLOOW_tD5LU2a5sB_YE2xjOjKnDWtd5hpvvCHCiS-lPVWwne68ahGvFlmkD1S0T800rHhfJxRmEyBqMDt70Xbg-uf0k9U/s400/3.jpg" width="290" /></a></div>
<br />
That is a DHL package, and the label tells me it came from Santa Eduvigs, Venezuela. And inside the mailer was a brown paper bag with my address on it, stating "United States" at the bottom. So it wasn't like a misrouted PWE that DHL took under their wing to correct. It appears this sale originated in South America and was shipped from same. At $3. If the seller of the Abreu made little money, this seller had to take a loss. But it does tick off another player for Project 2005. Sixteen to go.<br />
<br />
I hope this video from some Venezuelan band is not too offensive. Though, titled "Black Panties", I'm taking a real chance.<br />

One blogger after another is either celebrating an anniversary, celebrating a success, clearing stock or just making an excuse for fun. I'm overdue for a contest, in fact. I completely missed my 6th year of running the blog. I'll figure something out.<br />
<br />
I enter them from time to time. Do I notice the post before sign up ends? Are the winnings items that fit my collection? How much energy to enter? I certainly don't enter them all - maybe 50% at best. So odds of winning are usually pretty low. But even a broken clock is right twice a day, and I pull out the impossible ever so often.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKhFSHmYFyfchaXA6mu6LFfSRed-RFHE_59gGSfhQgxI6M6-mwE5NJIZgkAsyC-tcJ9PCCWJcu90vqVngNOp-ome_rczC-fEW8jpdJQrww16iWV7hg7uRA9eH6Cb_p8ryQiQXkUUHmg0Y/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="420" data-original-width="920" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKhFSHmYFyfchaXA6mu6LFfSRed-RFHE_59gGSfhQgxI6M6-mwE5NJIZgkAsyC-tcJ9PCCWJcu90vqVngNOp-ome_rczC-fEW8jpdJQrww16iWV7hg7uRA9eH6Cb_p8ryQiQXkUUHmg0Y/s640/1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Kerry over at Cards on Cards runs a couple NCAA contests a year - one for bowl time and the other for March Madness. Every time I enter, I tend to get out of the gate fast, then fall apart and end up in the middle of the pack. Well, this past NCAA basketball tourney, I was certain to end another year as the bride's bride's bride's bride's maid, and not the bride. And then the final was played, and some how the math went my way. The winning were a blaster of GQ and a blaster of Kerry's choice, which ended up as Archives. Some nice cardboard came from the Archives blaster, and maybe I'll actually finish building the set. Love that image on the Bench.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMZIsRZfScmYArJvO3jSmgGca_p0jNr8IW6PTkyLOZtWCB0V4L9he8HYX0EiWq8ednbNPF3N0gdqugbxTsBKGA64w-9sOPV-7sJuthoyu1eUJXNYsKn_ZEi2y_R9sXPFxDO5fzRkusp6o/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="420" data-original-width="920" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMZIsRZfScmYArJvO3jSmgGca_p0jNr8IW6PTkyLOZtWCB0V4L9he8HYX0EiWq8ednbNPF3N0gdqugbxTsBKGA64w-9sOPV-7sJuthoyu1eUJXNYsKn_ZEi2y_R9sXPFxDO5fzRkusp6o/s640/2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And here's the Gypsy Queen blaster. Nice SP with the Honus, and a logo swap Happ for the PC. Not sure why I scanned the Mengden. I think it was the similarity to it being a pic of Rollie. Kerry added some bonus cards to the mailer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We have color, with a sepia SC Thomas, blue Prizm and B&W Donruss Abreu.<br />

<br />
Some rookies. Hoping Carson figures this out. I think the Sox should turn him into a reliever. His starts are dreadful.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Couple for PCs, and a nice Chrome Moncada. Yoan isn't tearing it up, but he's still just 23, so no need to start freaking out. I think he is developing nicely and will fit in well at second for a few years.<br />
<br />

<br />
Last in the mailer was a dozen plus to help with the SC build. I didn't intend to scan the Correa and Bregman, but interesting how Topps selected similar images for the left side of the Astros infield. Thanks again, Kerry.<br />

The blogosphere's resident crazy man Wes from <strike>Jay Barker Fan</strike> <a href="https://jaybarkerfan.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Area 40</a> is having a year long (?) goodbye to the blog and running contest after contest. Unintentionally I entered and one the first one he ran and came out at the top of the randomizer. Some nice additions in the mailer with the die cut Big Hurt, a refractor of a Sox minor leaguer, and that sweet Drabeck Fleer numbered to 100.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
These were the contest winnings. A nice auto of Andre Fili, currently 18-5 and scheduled to fight again next month. The lower card, Daron Cruickshank is number 9/148. He is 20-10 and currently with the Rizin Fighting Federation, but has not had a bout for almost 2 years. Thanks Wes. Reconsider leaving, would ya?<br />

Even though I don't work for them at all, all the users on the east coast figured my company's program was down, when it was that cut fiber that screwed up the net today.<br />
<br />
So just a quick post. One image - six cards.<br />
<br />
