Time

William Penn said "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst". Lao Tzu was quoted “Time is a created thing. To say 'I don't have time,' is like saying, 'I don't want to.” Tennessee Williams said “Time is the longest distance between two places.” Roman Payne wrote “From all that I saw, and everywhere I wandered, I learned that time cannot be spent. It can only be squandered.”

No matter where we are, or what we do, time is always happening. The time I spent typing that last sentence is gone, never to return again. Also the time used for that sentence. Collecting cards takes time. Whether watching the clock on Ebay or Listia, the calendar until the weekend card show, or the following year until the National returns, to collect means to be patient most times. Also, collecting means you use that down time to be prepared for the next time, so you spend time going through your cards, take time to note what you have and don't have, and find time in your busy schedules to do all that.

How many more times are you going to use that word?
During a recent down time, I was organizing some A&G minis when I realized I never completed my mini want and insert lists for the past couple years. While I still need to take some time to work on the regular mini set, I figured out the inserts I needed and posted them to my page. The timing was just right. See, I was a lucky winner over at Matt's Bubba's Bangin' Batch of Baseball Bits, which I shall now call Quint B. Matt was giving away a bunch of his Allen and Ginter from this year, and I was lucky enough to make the randomizer to select any 15 insert cards. I love me some freebies, and it makes for far less that what I need to find in the real world.

I was able to scratch the What Once sets and well as most of the Great Scott. But that's not where the timing comes in. Matt took a glance at my A&G wants and dropped a ton of mini inserts from 2013 & 2014. I had just gotten the list updated less that 48 hours before when Matt offered up the minis.

A total of 32 minis, as well as the Shea Stadium Fields of Yore full sized insert. I have two to four of most of these minis, and now I am a good halfway through most of them. Thanks a bunch for the extra cards, Matt. When you need to complete sets on the cheap, you will take as much time as needed to find the right price.

Free - I got time for that.
